IT was a super start to the New Year and it certainly proved to be a super Saturday at the Queen's Centre in Galashiels.
A total of 378 participants took part in an exercise day like no other at the Melrose Road facility last Saturday.
The event was organised by the Borders Sport and Leisure Trust as hundreds of people converged on the facility full of good intentions.
Among them was Linda Veitch who told the Border Telegraph: "It was the first time I had been back doing proper exercise for almost two months and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the whole event. I
"t was so easy to get motivated with so many people involved in so many different classes. I have been to the Queen's Centre for classes before, but it was so different using the entire hall with so many people taking part and the trainers standing up on a platform leading us."
The event was designed to showcase the huge variation of classes offered by the BSLT at centres across the Scottish Borders, and participants could enjoy taster sessions in body combat, body pump, kettlercise, zumba, yoga and more.
Another participant Carla Upton said: "It was a really great day, the atmosphere was amazing. Watching the instructors work together on the stage made such a difference-it's great to be able to go to such an event here is the Borders!"
The Queen's Centre staff member Sharon Patterson said: "Everyone really pulled out all the stops to put on an event of this size, and judging by the results it was more than worth it - the Centre was buzzing all day."
