Galashiels centenarian receives telegram from the Queen

ONE of the Border Telegraph's oldest readers has celebrated her 100th birthday.

Alice MacGregor received a telegram from Her Majesty The Queen at the Waverley care home in Galashiels to mark the occasion.

She revealed the secret to a long and healthy life was "simple, healthy living."

The former nurse was joined by family from London for the celebrations on Thursday last week.
